Project Timeline

From early feasibility and land acquisition to planning approvals, rail siding endorsement and active tenant engagement, Northern Rivers Intermodal has progressed through more than two decades of planning, consultation and infrastructure development to become one of Northern NSW’s most significant freight and industrial opportunities.

Research identified the Northern Rivers as a future inland intermodal and industrial opportunity.

Project concept developed by John Wright, with land acquisition progressed by Country Member Pty Ltd and Western Views Pty Ltd.
2016
Development approval secured for IN1 industrial zoning and subdivision.
2017
Rail siding application approved.
2019
Rail freight study completed by Southern Cross University.
2020
Progress impacted by COVID-19, bushfires and flooding events.
2021–2022
Project rebrand and revitalisation, with rail operator engagement and renewed rail market opportunities established.
